Hanani for 14 days at CFS IIUM Gambang ;)

Wow my previous post feels ancient. Boy have I been busy..

To be precise I have been busy with scholarships and college applications. I've been to plenty of interviews and assessments that I reckon somebody ought to give me the pro award for it. Some offers I humbly declined after much thought, one I wanted so dearly but only made it to the final stage (ouch, the wound sure is fresh), to make a very enriching and fulfilling experience short, I decided to enroll myself to CFS IIUM Gambang (Centre of Foundation Studies , International Islamic University Malaysia) for my foundation studies in dentistry.

Basically I enrolled myself under the UPU process and not under some fancy scholarship or what not. Let me bring you through some flashbacks... there I was in a MPV, half filled with stuff for my foundation studies (Serious though the amount of stuff I brought was simply ridiculous!) and the other half filled with three quarters of my family members. I remember ever so clearly that after 5 minutes worth of drive, I found out that I passed Petronas Educamp and was awarded a scholarship in Law. They offered me to do my A-levels at Kyuem and with Allah's will I'd further my studies at any University in the Uk.

Upon the news, dad was asking if I wanted to take the offer and just go back home..he said "nak patah balik ke nie?" *chukles. Flabbergasted I simply said we'll continue the journey and I'll give more thought to it. And besides I had more than a week to think about the offer... Boy was I stressed out! I was literally at a junction with no clear direction and clearly no U-turns to help aid the decision! I had to be fair, so I went through all the placement test, the classes with (I hope) all my heart. So after much thought and after going through my share of the CFS IIUM experience, I finally chose to take the offer from Petronas and will be doing my A-levels this July :)

Pause. Let's hold that story for my next post. Now, let's talk about CFS IIUM Gambang. What's wrong with CFS IIUM Gambang? pffttt.. nothing was wrong and that was the problem for it made my decisions harder. The place just opened with some ongoing constructions and will finally be ready by January next year..hopefully *grins. Because the place is new, it'd be only logical that the facilities are impressive. Here's a picture of my room to prove it..

Pretty impressive aye considering it's a public university ;)

Because it was only logical that the facilities were impressive it was also only logical that they had staff and administration issues, but that's only a temporary problem. Even within that short time I managed to bond with some people and even formed a new clique. I met with so many wonderful people such as the Sabah twins and Nadia-my personal 5 star PA and loads more. There were too many people who shared the name 'anis' with me so my friends decided to call me Hanani instead which is my middle name (But I'm sticking to the name Anis at Kyuem because Hanani just sounds foreign to me and even the meaning itself is too ickish hehehe) I felt really compelled and safe in the islamic environment while I was there and was surrounded with such kind people.

Oh and my roommates were a blessing! All of them had the same sleeping pattern with me. I was really happy with that, totally a bonus for me. All of them slept early and woke up early and all of them preferred sleeping in the utter dark. Bullseye! I felt like I just won the lottery *happy tears. So the big question is why did I throw all of this away??? And besides I'm a science student why on Earth would I take up law? *Anticipation in the audience ;)

1) It so happens that I have the qualities of a good dentist and a good lawyer *eceh which leads to..
2) Petronas offers me financial assurance, work assurance and In sha Allah future assurance. The contract gives me a clear insight of my future.
3) I went to a couple of physics class while I was at CFS IIUM and that made me think that leaving the science stream for law would be a great idea HAHAHAHA

Before I pen off let me share with you two golden tips I acquired at CFS Gambang..
1) If you're taking a bus from Kuala Lumpur to CFS Gambang, the bus will stop at Kuantan. So about 1 km from Toll Gambang request to stop at the bus stand in front of UMP.(Normally the bus driver will stop at the bus stand to drop off students) So while at the bus stand, get ready RM2 to pay for the bus ticket to CFS Gambang.

2) Gambang is a developing place so there aren't much to anticipate there, but if you're looking for a good place to eat perhaps you've gotten bored of all the flies at the Cafe :p there's a place called Nasi Kukus My Mama. You'd probably spot it on your right if you're heading towards CFS from Toll gambang. It's big and the main theme is red so it's difficult to miss. If you're at CFS Gambang and planning to go there I'd reckon you can take the Rapid bus and pay maybe RM2 to get there. You'd probably be shocked (I know I was) because a majority of the customers have nasi kukus and a bottle of coke on their table. Cool combination aye? HAHAHA The price and the taste is simply satisfying. You could get a full meal with only RM7. Even though the place is packed with people you'd probably get your order in 5 minutes due to the massive amount of staff. Oh, and one more thing beware of the male workers, pfftt they were hitting on me, you'd have to be lame to hit on a stranger who isn't attractive and wearing a typical boarding school outfit, you know the prep scarf and black slacks kinda thang. But then again, boys will always be boys aye? ;)

So yes people of CFS IIUM Gambnag, you are welcome :)

This was a restaurant nearby and the service was pretty efficient.

p/s: Thanks to everyone who gave me advice and who cared while I was at that so called junction. May Allah bless :)
