Perceptions
Hello again :) So, just like any after SPM student in Malaysia, I'm currently in the process of getting my driver's license. The first step in the lengthy process to get your driver's license in Malaysia is that you have to attend a six hour theory lecture. Before I attended the lecture I read many tweets from people my age complaining about how boring the lecture 'would be' and they dread going to the lecture. These complaints came from people who haven't even attended the lecture yet.
So just recently, I attended the ever so famous boring 6 hour lecture myself.During the first half of the lecture I did pretty good and learned quite a lot ( I knew nothing about driving at that time) Some of the stuff that the teacher taught us was later on questioned during the computer test, So hey, the 'boring' lecture actually did me good.
During the remaining half of the lecture, I was assigned a different teacher ( My first teacher was a substitute teacher) I just had lunch and his voice barely made it to my ear, So yeah, I was starting to feel quite drowsy. I looked around and saw that some people in class were already in dreamland, some played with their phones and some were hearing music using their earphones and pretended to pay attention to the lecture.
At that point, I was constantly touching my phone to see how many hours we had left. And yes the cliche, a minute felt like an hour happened. I was literally at war with myself trying to resist the urge to ignore the lecture and play with my phone which was really attractive at that moment. But then I began to think, there must be some good left I can squeeze from the hours I had left from the lecture. So I decided to read the driving text book which was compulsory for us to buy. Hey presto! I manged to read more than half of the 349 page book within the time I had left from the lecture. Kind of productive aye?
So, 6 hour of lecture, check!
Three days later I had to sit for a computer test. You have to score at least 42 from 50 if you want to pass the test. So just like how the lecture was labeled as 'boring', this test was labeled as 'easy'. A lot of people claimed that you could answer the questions using common sense. I think it's safe to say that half of the questions were common sense questions. But hey, if you get let's say all of the common sense questions correct, that will give you a score of 25 out of 50, which means you failed the exam and have to pay RM35 to retake the exam.
So I sincerely think it would be wise to read the book and prepare for the exam beforehand so you'll past on the first try. No matter how smart you think you are or maybe you just have 'high confidence in yourself' ;) be wise and prepare beforehand. Maybe you wanna challenge yourself and the RM35 is no big deal-you could ask for it from your parents, but just think, afterwards the ultimate question people would ask, except for how much you scored is, did you have to retake the exam. So yeah, save the future you some shame :)
Thanks for the advices :-D
